Slipstream, der Veranstalter der European Community Championships, löst sich wohl auf.

Sundays Esport has acquired the assets of Slipstream

Various Slipstream staff members are set to join the Sundays Esport staff team in 2023 - most notably Faded as the organization’s newest director.

The ECC (European Community Championship) will cease operations after the current eleventh season concludes.

Sundays Esport will launch a brand new 3v3 league for premade teams in early 2023, intended to be a spiritual successor to the ECC - further news on this will appear in the coming months.

    Dear Slipstream community,

It's probably clear to many of you that things haven’t been running smoothly as of late; admittedly, we've been having a rough time, with commitments outside of the ECC taking priority and issues with motivation being the driving factors, but rest assured that we'll keep things moving as best we can. Having said that, one thing is certain for us – our staff team cannot continue to operate like this long-term. The Director team recently convened for a meeting to discuss the current situation and what our next steps should be. Despite it being a long and difficult talk, we’re satisfied with our plan, and having conducted further discussions with relevant parties, we’re ready to publicly announce our intentions for the future.

Sundays Esport, our closest partner organisation, will be taking over Slipstream, including all assets and social media accounts, meaning that Slipstream and the ECC will cease operations at the conclusion of ECC11. It wasn’t an easy decision to make by any means, but having weighed up our options, this one made the most sense to us. Various Slipstream staff members have committed to joining Sundays Esport to work on their 2v2 league, as well as creating a new 3v3 league for premade teams, acting as the “spiritual successor” to the ECC. Sundays Esport will become the home of the biggest 2v2 and 3v3 leagues that fully consist of premade rosters.

So, what does this mean for players? We plan to continue ECC11 as planned to the end, with the exception of the promotion/relegation matches – playing these would be unnecessary, given that there will be no direct continuity between the ECC and the new league. After the season concludes, all prize money will be paid out like normal, and the transition to Sundays Esport will commence at that point. The Slipstream Discord server will continue to run with a limited number of channels available, with a headline channel directing users to the Sundays Esport Discord. All of Slipstream’s social media accounts, including Twitch, Twitter and YouTube, will be rebranded; the ECC Twitter account in particular will become the new primary account for Sundays Esport. During all of this, the team will be hard at work in preperation of the new league, which is set to commence in early 2023.

We know this news will come as a disappointment to many of you. The ECC’s closure marks the end of a remarkable chapter in the story of grassroots Rocket League. Many staff members volunteered their time, many casters have lent their voice, and a broad range of rosters from all across Europe have breathed life into every step of the ladder, from the proving grounds of Division 4 to the lofty heights of The Vortex. Many fond memories were created over the years - some of joy, others of despair - and whilst it hurts to bring this project to a close after all this time, the spirit of the ECC will live on as we set off on a new endeavour under the Sundays Esport banner. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you to everyone who made contributions big and small to the ECC, especially those who have supported us throughout our darkest hour. A special thanks is in order to our founding members (@[DIG] Jez, @ASC | Bree ,@𝓦𝓪𝓯𝓯𝓵𝓮 ⛧ and @TheWeevil), their efforts set out the foundations for this community, which lead it to grow bigger than any of us could ever have imagined. Good luck and have fun during the rest of the season, and we hope you’ll all join us in our next steps of amateur Rocket League!
